This month we had our first House Church Fellowship, where we focused on the theme; “Being Thirsty For God.”
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” ~Psalm 42:1-2
Within the inmost chambers of our being exists a longing for deeper levels of intimacy with God, evidenced in our constant search for something or someone “more” fulfilling or meaningful. We partake of many things in life; yet, we are still unsatisfied. Why are we so insatiable? Is God not enough?
The book of Genesis aids us in our internal quest for significance and fulfillment. In the beginning God created man, but man was devoid of life, of purpose, and meaning until the Almighty breathed in the creature his very “breath.” There exists in each human a “divine void,” a perpetual yearning for communion and fellowship with Him.
The spiritual water Jesus offers quenches our thirst, and soothes our weary and aching souls. I wish to consume His water. Don’t you?
